Such a beautiful cactus...and the spines open outward and lay flat against the cactus so they won't poke you! Native to Mexico, as well as in the United States in Arizona and New Mexico.
A solitary cactus that rarely branches or offsets with age. Echinocereus rigidissimus grows to a height of up to 12", and a width of 4-5" when mature. The new spines are initially reddish to magenta and fades to a yellow or light pink color when they mature.
Flowering occurs from late April to early June depending on the elevation and spring heat.
Light: Full sun to part shade. The more light it receives, the brighter your cactus will be!
Water: Sparingly, only when soil has completely dried out. Do not water in winter!
Pets: Not known to be toxic, use caution.
